The Laboratory Department employs highly sophisticated equipment, in order to accurately determine the clinical diagnosis required by our clinicians. All general clinical laboratory tests are performed in-house. We provide a number of laboratory services such as General Haematology, Special Haematology (Coagulative haematology, Haemoglobin studies, Iron Studies, Transfusion Medicine, Enzymatic studies), Clinical Microbiology (Bacteriology, Parasitology, Virology, Mycology), Immunology, Histopathology, Chemical Pathology (General Clinical Chemistry), Special Chemical Pathology (Endocrinological Studies). We are open every day from 8:00 am- 10:30 pm. A blood transfusion is a routine medical procedure in which donated blood is provided through a narrow tube placed within a vein in the arm.
This potentially life-saving procedure can help replace blood loss due to surgery or injury. A blood transfusion also can help if an illness prevents your body from making blood.
Blood transfusions usually occur without complications. When complications do occur, they’re typically mild.
Your blood will be tested before a transfusion to determine whether your blood type is A, B, AB or O and whether your blood is Rh-positive or Rh-negative. The donated blood used for your transfusion must be compatible with your blood type.
